This privately owned company has 170 employees who are dedicated to complete client satisfaction: 100% available mission critical IT environments. The flat company structure with no management layers requires every employee to provide input, which allows for continuous improvement of this high-end service they provide to their clients. Working from best practices, the two most frequently asked questions are: “how can it be improved?” and “why?” Every Engineer at this company has a natural curiosity and wants to understand why something behaves the way it does. And automating and scripting are second nature to every Engineer. With the “you design it, you drive it” philosophy, you want to create the best possible environment. You will be fully facilitated to make this happen.
As a Security Engineer you are part of the compact Security Team and participate in one of the dedicated Customer Teams. Your work is diverse, dealing with both operational and strategic tasks. On a daily basis, you handle security incidents and respond to customer requests. Together with our customers, colleagues and partners you identify potential security risks, evaluate the potential impact and characteristics of these risks and determine the appropriate measures to minimize and, where possible, eliminate them. In other words, you act as the security conscience.
You develop new security services for the portfolio, either to improve the existing services or as completely new offerings. Although it is not a prerequisite, we applaud it if you build (part of) these new solutions yourself. Here are some services and projects that will likely cross your path: identity and access management, authentication as a service, web application firewalling, IPS, anomaly detection, SIEM, (internal) penetration testing, continuous audit, base images, security cookbooks, code security scanning, etcetera.
You are curious by nature and want to know why something works and wonder if it can be improved. Security is firmly rooted in your DNA. As such, you are always well informed about the latest developments. We don’t mind if some people call you obsessed with security. Certificates such as CISSP, CISA and CISM certainly come as an advantage. In the end however, we care more for your knowledge, skills and attitude than your formal CV. You might be active in the white hat hackers community, but are smart enough to dress up properly if business requires so.
While you breathe, eat and sleep security, you feel responsible for the functioning of the whole system and team. ‘Normal’ engineers appreciate it that you understand their way of thinking and operating. You support them by noticing the things that are missing or unwanted, thanks to your focus on details and structured way of working.
